Chapter 2

Chapter 2

They've been walking for days, but they can't go back. No matter how many alleys we have to live in, we will never surrender to themOdessa thought. She looked over at her fraternal twin sister and sighed. Why do they have to go after us? We're just 12 year old kids, she wondered. "Let's rest, Vella. You look exhausted." Odessa sweetly said.
Odessa looked at V's ratted purple sweater, and ripped jeans. Her shoes were caked in mud and her glossy, short, blond hair was now tangled, greasy, and messed up. The only thing that was the same was her cheerful, light blue eyes were still filled with hope. "Alright, Odessa. Wait, you have a leaf in your hair." Vella replied. She reached out and gently took the leaf out of Odessa's knee long, shiny (from the grease), strawberry blonde hair. Odessa smiled at Vella, her gray eyes shining with new hope, but then she glazed over. Suddenly, for no reason, she started crying. "Oh, no. Did you have another vision?" Vella worried.
Odessa nodded and collapsed, "A bunch of kids. One was on fire, one kept on trying to touch things only to go through them, one was pushing things away with a force, another one repeatedly turned invisible throwing darts everywhere, one shaped shifted into multiple forms, and one was continuously changing into a fire and leaping on battle dummies. It looked like they were training for something. But the worst thing was the end. It showed us standing there, looking at the kids bodies..." she cried.
Vella stared at Odessa and gathered her into a hug. "It'll be ok. Remember, we can change the future. What you saw is what the future is for now. So we can still change it." Vella whispered. Odessa wiped her tears away and smiled.
"Alright. So you want me to speed over to the store and buy some food with the money we have left?" Vella suggested.
"Sure, fine. I'll just make a camp here." Odessa muttered, still wiping tears away.
"See you in 1 minute, exactly. Oh, and your nose is turning red..." Vella commented, and then she was off in a flash, literally.
I'm alone, Odessa thought. I still, no matter probably what, think that vision is going to come true. Odessa sighed and lay down on the grungy ground. I so need a bath I mean, I STINK, she thought.
"I'm back. I got you a Honey-Bun, soap, Dr. Pepper, and a traveler’s toothbrush," Vella said.
Odessa licked her lips and dug in. "At least I get to brush my teeth afterwards," she laughed.
"Well, at least we'll fill up before we..." Vella trailed off, looking frightened. Odessa looked over her shoulders, and there they were. The Hunters.
