Chapter 1
When we passed Ash, I grabbed the plate she was holding and laughed, "Thanks, Hun. Now hurry up, you don't want to make us late." I jumped off the last step, as Ash started to roll her eyes. "Bye Mom! I love ya!" I yelled when I reached the back door.
"Hold on! Give me a hug before you leave!" My Mom yelled back. It was my turn to roll my eyes now as my Mom walked into the kitchen. My mom is a tall, tan woman with curly, brown hair. My sister got the hair, and I got the tallness and taness. Anyways, she walked into the kitchen and was wearing a green dress, black high heels, and a black shawl. So, I hugged her, Ash on the other side. "I love you girls so much," my Mom whispered, and then she murmured something surprising, "I may never see you guys again."
"Don't say that mom; we'll see you after school. It's not like we're going to be kidnapped, you know us better than that." I cried, tears welling in my eyes. I only have tears in my eyes is because she's saying this crazy thing of me never seeing her again.
"Just go, you don't want to be late." my Mom sniffled. I nodded, and put my hands on
Ash's shoulders. I steered her towards the door, and as we walked out the door, I took one last look at my Mom. I keep thinking, no matter how much I don't want to, that I'm not going to see her for awhile.

We walked to the car and I saw that Zeke, Mo, Jade, and Opal were already settled into my midnight blue convertible. "Looks like you guys made yourself comfortable." I sighed.
"Well, I don't want to run into Christy, for one. And I don't want to be late," Zeke commented. Christy is the dumbest, meanest, most awful person in the world. She has wavy true blond hair and dark, cruel, sinister grey eyes. She is always wearing pink and to tight short shorts.
"Well that's true." I agreed, as I jumped into the driver's seat. Then, we were off to school.
We arrived and I saw an area near the school, in the parking lot, that barely had any cars in it. So, I gently pulled in and turned off the engine. "Look who's here, girls. Sapphire and her freak show. Except for you, Zeke. You can come and hang out with the cool girls." Christy sneered. She's been after Zeke for 5 years, now. She is so pathetic.
"Where are they? Cause you certainly aren't them. So, why don't you fall down a hole? You'll be doing everyone a favor." I hissed, because no one hits on my boyfriend and calls me Sapphire. I jumped out of my car, and walked right up to Christy.
She snapped right then and there. She slapped me across the face HARD. Causing me to fall down. "You are pathetic. That's why your father is always traveling. You disappoint him," she snarled.
I just got up, wiped away my tears, and spat in her face, "Like I care what you think." I then dropped down and kicked Christy's feet out of under her. "How did I just do that?" I asked. Someone would've answered, if Christy hadn't started screaming for the police outside the school for help. I looked at Jade and we nodded together. I jumped into the driver seat and sped to the intersection. I made a hard right and, standing there, was my Dad. I hit the brakes, then stared, cause we were on a highway with no one else. I glared at my Father, and if looks could kill, he would be in a coffin right now. Right when I glared even harder, the engine burst into flames.
Everyone screamed and jumped out of the car, everyone except Jade. "Jade how did that happen?!? Just, never mind! Get out of the car! It looks like it's about to blow up!" I yelled.
"I'm trying! My seat belt won't come undone!" She screeched. Jade looked down and her eyes grew wide. "My hands are going through the seat!" I rolled my eyes and charged toward the exploding car. Somehow, I knew I wouldn't get hurt.
I ran up to Jade and she was telling the truth. Her hands are going right through the buckle. I quickly unbuckled her and we dashed away as the whole car exploded. "That was close," I laughed, and then I started laughing harder as I saw the burnt Jade. "Ok, now what are we going t-AH!" I screamed, grabbing my head. When I managed to slightly open my eyes, I saw everyone else grabbing their heads, too. All I could hear was screaming and a high pitched ringing noise. Ah, I can't take it anymore! I shut my eyes and saw an orange glow. Finally, FINALLY, the piercing noise stopped, but the screaming just got worse. My eyes flashed open to see there was a fire at where I was laying! I looked at my skin, and it looks like I got a really bad sunburn, but it doesn't hurt. I saw my hands and they were on fire. Also, my hair was red and on fire.
"Get some water and throw it on her! Phire stop, drop, and roll. Do it now!" Zeke yelled. He is obviously worried.
"Wait! If you throw that water on me, Opal. I will kill you." I hissed. Opal took a step back and threw the water on me, anyway. But the fire didn't go out. It just got bigger as I got angrier.
"What's happening to us? OMG! Phire your eyes! They're red and they are flicking orange like a fire!" Jade gasped. Tears tried to run down my cheeks, but they just evaporated by the time they touched my skin.
"I know how to teach you to control it. But you guys have to trust me," my Dad stated.
"Fine." I grumbled.
My Dad smiled. "First, you have to know what you are. The people call your kind Suns, Sapphire. Second, you need to close your eyes," my Dad ordered. I squeezed my eyes shut, no matter how much I wanted to snap at him. "Lastly, take deep breaths, and calm down." I followed his orders again. And when I opened my eyes, I was back to normal. Or somewhat.
